Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to join the Neutron team in New Zealand. You will develop and test high-performance mechanical systems, focusing on structures and mechanisms, and work with cross-disciplinary teammates to deliver robust hardware.

Responsibilities include leading structural tests, developing test plans, and mentoring junior engineers. A background in aerospace or mechanical engineering is required and NX/SolidWorks/CATIA are used for design across multiple

Qualifications

• Degree in aerospace, mechanical or mechatronic engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years developing and testing high performance mechanical systems, focusing on structures/mechanisms.
• Experience with instrumentation and analysis of static/dynamic test data.

Responsibilities

• Produce conceptual CAD designs for Neutron structures and mechanisms.
• Lead testing of metallic components and assemblies.
• Develop test plans and document results to verify performance requirements.
• Create fixtures to aid fabrication, assembly and testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote safe, high-quality work.
