Job summary

Seequent, a world‑leading geoscience technology company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Technical Computing team in Christchurch. You will help design and build cloud-native compute frameworks enabling geoscience workloads and optimise algorithms for CPU/GPU performance.

You will work on HPC algorithms, GPU technologies such as CUDA, and cloud integration, collaborating with geotech, geophysics, and data science colleagues to deliver scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building scalable, testable code at product level.
• Strong grasp of clean architectures and design patterns.
• Experience with parallel computing or distributed systems.
• Familiarity with cloud environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based compute frameworks for geoscience workloads.
• Support the transition of desktop algorithms to scalable cloud-native solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to enable adoption of the cloud compute framework.
• Contribute to code reviews and provide guidance on performance-focused development.
• Develop and optimise computational algorithms for performance and scalability.
• Apply profiling and optimisation techniques for CPU and GPU efficiency.
