Job summary

Assurant, Inc. in Auckland is seeking a Senior Software Developer for a 12-month fixed-term contract on a hybrid basis.

You will design, build, test and support production-quality software across modern applications, APIs, integrations and digital capabilities, with a focus on AI-enabled delivery. You’ll apply strong engineering practices, contribute to platform modernisation, and own solutions from design through production.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience in modern web environments.
• Strong experience with C#/.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web frameworks.
• Experience building REST APIs, integrations and distributed/event-driven systems.
• Strong experience with Azure, SQL and relational databases.
• Track record of designing maintainable, production-ready software.
• Strong engineering practices across automated testing, Git, code reviews and CI/CD.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools in design, coding, testing and troubleshooting.
• Experience developing secure cloud applications with proper data handling.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and support high-quality modern applications, APIs, services and integrations.
• Contribute to the modernisation of technology platforms and development of new digital capabilities.
• Take ownership of solutions from design through to production and ongoing support.
• Apply strong engineering practices across automated testing, code review, CI/CD, observability, security and maintainability.
• Use AI-assisted development tools across coding, testing, review, documentation, deployment and troubleshooting.
• Identify opportunities to embed AI into software development while maintaining human oversight and standards.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, testers, infrastructure, security teams and partners to deliver scalable solutions.
• Share AI and software engineering knowledge to uplift capability across the team.
