Assurant in Auckland is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join the NZ development team and drive a technology transformation. This hands-on role designs, builds, tests and supports production-grade software across modern applications, APIs, integrations and digital capabilities, with a focus on AI-enabled delivery.

You will work in a hybrid environment with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home, and you will contribute across the full development lifecycle, applying strong engineering

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience in web-based environments.
• Strong experience with C#/NET, JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web frameworks.
• Experience building modern applications, REST APIs, integrations and distributed systems.
• Strong experience with Azure and SQL relational databases.
• Track record designing maintainable, production-ready software.
• Strong engineering practices across automated testing, Git, CI/CD.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools across areas such as design, coding, testing, documentation, review and troubleshooting.
• Experience developing secure cloud applications, including authentication, authorisation and data handling.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Design, build, test and support high-quality modern applications, APIs, services and integrations.
• Contribute to modernisation of technology platforms and development of new digital capabilities.
• Take ownership of solutions from design through to production and ongoing support.
• Apply engineering practices across automated testing, code review, CI/CD, observability, security and maintainability.
• Use AI-assisted development tools across coding, testing, review, documentation, deployment and troubleshooting.
• Identify practical opportunities to embed AI into software development with appropriate human oversight and standards.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, testers, infrastructure, security teams and technology partners to deliver scalable solutions.
• Share your AI and software engineering knowledge to uplift capability across the wider development team.
