Job summary

Birdwood School in Auckland is seeking a certificated teacher to cover a Senior School (Years 7–8) on a fixed-term maternity leave starting 1 February 2027 with potential extension through 2027.

The role requires strong relational pedagogy, familiarity with BSLA, and experience across core NZ curriculum areas including English, maths, science, social sciences, te reo Māori and The Arts. It is a full-time position based in West Auckland.

Qualifications

• Certified teacher with NZ qualifications and current practicing status.
• Experience implementing relational pedagogy in a NZ school.
• Familiarity with BSLA (Balanced Literacy for South Auckland) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Cover a Senior School class (Years 7-8) during maternity leave.
• Deliver instruction across English, mathematics, science, social sciences and arts.
• Collaborate with staff to maintain continuity of learning and High-Trust relationships.

We are looking for a superstar teacher for our Senior School. Applicants must understand relational pedagogy, have a good understanding of BSLA and have experience with Maths No Problem!

This role is covering for a teacher on Maternity leave that ends at the end of Term 2. However, there is a possibility this role may extend for all of 2027.
