Job summary

South Taranaki District Council seeks a Roading Manager to provide strategic, operational and financial leadership for the district''s roads, footpaths and streetlighting. You will ensure the network is safe, reliable and sustainable, connecting communities while delivering value for ratepayers.

You will lead roading maintenance, renewals and capital works, manage budgets and contracts, supervise a team of ten, and collaborate with internal teams, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, contractors,

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• At least five years' experience managing roading activities.
• Strong road engineering knowledge and commercial judgement.
• Experience in budget management, contract oversight, road safety and local government requirements.
• Proven ability to lead staff, contractors and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of roading maintenance, renewals and capital works across the district.
• Set direction for roading activity and translate strategy into affordable delivery.
• Provide strategic advice and guide asset management planning with stakeholders.
• Develop a capable team and foster accountability and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations.
