Job summary

Asteron Life New Zealand is seeking an experienced Senior Risk Manager to provide independent second-line risk oversight across the business, partnering with executives to shape risk-informed decision making in a complex, regulated environment.

You will lead risk governance, drive risk appetite, manage incidents and reporting to executives and the Board, while remaining closely involved in day-to-day risk management.

Qualifications

• Significant second-line risk management experience in regulated financial services.
• Strong knowledge of ERM, governance and control assurance.
• Proven ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
• Experience with regulatory, compliance, conduct and operational risk.
• Experience preparing executive and board-level reporting.
• Commercial acumen and ability to translate risk into practical outcomes.
• Autonomous, hands-on, with balanced strategic and day-to-day risk management.

Responsibilities

• Partner with executives to provide pragmatic risk advice and challenge.
• Evolve risk management and governance frameworks.
• Provide risk oversight across transformation initiatives.
• Lead second-line assurance activities including reviews and remediation.
• Oversee incidents, breaches and regulatory obligations with escalation.
• Monitor risk appetite and control effectiveness.
• Prepare reporting for Executive, Risk Committee and Board.
• Support Head of Risk and act as delegated authority when required.
