Job summary

Southern Cross Health Insurance is seeking a Risk & Assurance Specialist to provide independent Line 2 assurance and risk management expertise across the organisation. The role spans enterprise risk management, governance oversight and stewardship of risk frameworks, systems and reporting.

You'll work cross-functionally, delivering insight, challenge and trusted advice to leaders, helping improve risk outcomes, inform decisions and strengthen risk capability and culture across the business.

Qualifications

• At least five years' experience in risk management, assurance, internal audit, compliance or risk advisory.
• Experience in financial services, insurance, banking or another regulated environment.
• Knowledge of risk frameworks, regulatory obligations and assurance methodologies.
• Strong analytical and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience working with risk systems, reporting, data and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent Line 2 assurance over risk management, controls, governance and compliance.
• Evaluate design and operating effectiveness of controls and broader control environment.
• Identify emerging risks, systemic issues and opportunities to strengthen risk management.
• Oversee incidents, issues and remediation activity with sustainable outcomes.
• Maintain and enhance risk frameworks, methodologies, systems and reporting.
• Provide actionable insight to support leadership and governance decisions.
• Partner with stakeholders to build risk capability, culture and control effectiveness.
