Job summary

BDO New Zealand seeks an experienced risk & consulting leader to influence clients, teams and practice direction. You’ll oversee end-to-end engagements, build senior client relationships, and guide teams with confident decision-making.

You’ll drive strategic, commercial solutions, present to executives and boards, and mentor staff. Expect hybrid work, growth opportunities, and a chance to shape how AI-driven methods transform client outcomes.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in professional services at manager or senior manager level.
• CA and/or IIA qualified, or another relevant postgraduate qualification.
• Client-side or commercial experience is a bonus, not essential.
• Track record of leading several engagements and owning client relationships.
• Strong project management skills and sound commercial judgement.
• Experience leading, developing and motivating people.
• Confident, credible communicator handling challenging conversations.

Responsibilities

• Own engagements end to end from scoping and pricing to delivery and reporting.
• Build and own senior client relationships, setting clear expectations and addressing issues early.
• Frame complex problems and shape practical, commercial solutions.
• Present findings and recommendations to executives, audit committees and boards.
• Lead, coach and develop your team, building judgement and confidence.
• Win and grow work through proposals, pitches and strong relationships.
• Collaborate with partners on direction, quality and growth of the practice.
