Job summary

AIA Group in New Zealand seeks a Senior Risk Management Specialist to strengthen and embed risk practices across the business for a fixed-term period. You will advise leaders, guide governance, and support risk-informed decision making through analytics and robust controls.

Working with the Head of Enterprise Risk Management Services, you will drive risk culture, oversight of frameworks, and collaboration across diverse teams to enhance resilience and customer-focused outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience applying risk management frameworks, controls, and governance practices within complex business environments.
• Ability to analyse complex information, exercise sound judgement, and translate risk insights into practical recommendations.
• Proven track record building trusted relationships and influencing senior leaders on risk outcomes.
• Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality reporting, assurance and audit activities.
• Experience in financial services risk management and understanding of insurance operations; tertiary qualification in risk, finance, tech, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and oversight of risk and control frameworks across the business.
• Strengthen risk culture by building awareness, accountability, and confidence in risk management.
• Deliver timely risk reporting and insights to governance bodies and leadership discussions.
• Guide assurance and compliance activities to maintain effective controls and regulatory obligations.
• Partner with stakeholders on projects, changes, incidents to identify risks and improve outcomes.
• Champion continuous improvement of risk processes, efficiency, and organisational capability.
