About the Role

Our client, a premier telecommunications service provider, is seeking an experienced Senior RF Network Optimization Engineer to join their team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape . This hybrid role is focused on enhancing the performance, capacity, and quality of the company's wireless networks. The engineer will be responsible for analyzing RF data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to optimize network coverage and user experience. This position requires a deep understanding of RF principles, propagation modeling, and advanced network optimization techniques for 4G and 5G technologies. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring our client delivers best-in-class mobile connectivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze RF performance metrics and drive network optimization initiatives.
• Conduct drive tests and field surveys to evaluate coverage, call quality, and data speeds.
• Develop and implement strategies for improving RF parameters, including antenna tilt, power levels, and neighbor relations.
• Utilize RF planning and optimization tools to model network performance and predict impact of changes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex RF interference and capacity issues.
• Collaborate with network planning and engineering teams on new site acquisition and deployment.
• Perform post-launch analysis and optimization for new sites and technology upgrades.
• Generate detailed reports on network performance, optimization activities, and recommendations.
• Stay abreast of emerging RF technologies and optimization techniques.
• Mentor junior RF engineers and share technical expertise.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in RF engineering, with a strong focus on network optimization.
• In-depth knowledge of 4G LTE and 5G NR technologies and their RF characteristics.
• Proficiency in using RF planning and optimization tools (e.g., Atoll, Planet, TEMS).
• Experience with drive test tools and data post-processing.
• Strong understanding of radio propagation, antenna theory, and interference mitigation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.Ability to interpret complex RF data and translate it into actionable strategies.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, specific vendor certifications) are a plus.
