Job summary

SYOS Aerospace is seeking a mid- to senior-level RF Communications & Networks Engineer in Mount Maunganui, NZ. You will own RF systems from integration to deployment, ensuring high-reliability links for autonomous platforms across air, land and sea.

You’ll collaborate with software, electrical, avionics, mechanical and systems teams to optimize performance and robustness. You’ll evaluate radio technologies, develop architectures, and lead testing and validation activities for field deployments

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or related field.
• 1+ year experience with RF communications or data links.
• Experience integrating communication systems into vehicles, robotics, aerospace, defence or industrial environments.
• Strong understanding of RF principles, antennas and wireless technologies.
• Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the integration, testing and optimisation of RF communication systems across autonomous platforms.
• Evaluate and select radio technologies and networking solutions to meet mission requirements.
• Develop and improve communications architectures for multiple autonomous vehicles and ground control systems.
• Troubleshoot RF, connectivity and system-level challenges using data-driven analysis.
• Coordinate with software, electrical, avionics, mechanical and systems teams to deliver reliable solutions.
• Support vehicle integration, field trials and operational deployments as missions evolve.
• Establish RF testing approaches, performance benchmarks and lessons learned.
