Job summary

SYOS in Mount Maunganui, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, seeks a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to own complex design, integration and testing of autonomous platforms across mechanical, electrical and embedded software domains.

  • Hands-on, practical approach to robotics and autonomous systems.

Description

SYOS is a fast-growing global robotics and aerospace company developing uncrewed systems across air, land and sea for dual-use applications. We’re looking for an experienced Senior Mechatronics Engineer to take ownership of complex engineering challenges across the design, integration and testing of our autonomous platforms. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work across mechanical, electrical, embedded software and systems engineering, turning concepts into reliable, field-ready products. You’ll also play an important role in mentoring junior engineers and helping lift the technical capability of the wider team.

What You'll Do

What You'll Bring

  • Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Software, Computer Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience with mechatronic and embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of hardware/software integration and system-level testing.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems and work independently.
  • Experience mentoring or technically supporting junior engineers.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • A hands-on, practical approach and genuine passion for robotics, aerospace and autonomous systems.
