Job summary

Matamata-Piako District Council (MPDC) is seeking an experienced planner to join the resource consents team based in Te Aroha. You will manage land use and subdivision consents and provide expert advice to customers on resource management matters.

You will mentor other planners, promote high-quality planning assessments, and work collaboratively with applicants, consultants, engineers, iwi and the wider community to enable sustainable growth.

Qualifications

• Requires a relevant tertiary qualification and at least five years' experience in resource consents planning.
• Strong knowledge of the Resource Management Act and related legislation is essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• A proactive approach and strong customer focus are expected.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse range of land use and subdivision consents.
• Provide expert advice to customers on resource management matters.
• Mentor and support other planners; promote high-quality assessments.
• Collaborate with applicants, consultants, engineers, policy planners, iwi and the community.
• Support implementation of legislation and enable sustainable growth.
