Job summary

FMG (Farmers Mutual Group) is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Analyst to join our Digital & Data team in Palmerston North.

You will lead the end-to-end testing lifecycle, shape test strategies, and drive quality improvements across our software delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven QA experience with test strategy development and execution.
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery and the software development lifecycle.
• Experience with modern QA tools, methodologies, and test frameworks, plus some business analysis.
• Strong analytical skills to identify root causes and assess risk.
• Excellent communication skills to engage a range of stakeholders.
• Continuous improvement mindset and passion for quality.
• Experience in the Insurance sector and/or Guidewire is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end testing lifecycle from strategy to execution.
• Identify, prevent, and track defects to ensure quality outcomes.
• Collaborate across a small agile team including business analysis when needed.
• Influence requirements, design, and delivery decisions to improve product quality.

Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Analyst to join our Digital & Data team and play a key role in delivering high-quality, reliable technology outcomes that support our business and our clients.

As a Senior QA Analyst, you’ll work within a cross-functional product delivery team to ensure quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.

You’ll take the lead in shaping test strategies, improving QA practices, and influencing how products are designed and delivered – ensuring we build robust, reliable solutions from the outset.

What you’ll be responsible for

• Leading the end-to-end testing lifecycle, from strategy, to planning, to performing the execution - Including risk-based, exploratory, and business acceptance testing
• Ensuring quality outcomes by proactively identifying, preventing, and tracking defects
• The ability to work cross functionally within a small agile team, including involvement in business analysis activities and design as required
• Influencing requirements, design, and delivery decisions to improve product quality early in the process
• Driving continuous improvement in QA approaches and team practices
• Mentoring team members and supporting capability uplift across the team

About you

You’ll bring a strong mix of technical QA experience and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams. As well as -

• Proven experience in QA, including test strategy development and execution
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery and the software development lifecycle
• Experience with modern QA tools, methodologies, and test frameworks, along with some experience in business analysis
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess risk and identify root causes
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence a range of stakeholders
• A continuous improvement mindset and a passion for quality
• Experience within the Insurance sector and/or Guidewire (specifically Policy Centre) system would be beneficial but not essential
