Job summary

Tower Insurance is seeking a dedicated IT project leader within the Transformation Team in Auckland. This role drives delivery across the Tower portfolio of projects and Agile squads, while shaping learning pathways to develop project management skills across the organisation.

You will partner with leaders, vendors and sponsors to ensure on-time delivery, manage budgets and risks, and maintain alignment with business strategy and technology roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 7+ years IT project management experience delivering medium-to-large, complex projects.
• Insurance or financial services experience essential.
• Data migration project experience essential.
• Experience leading teams, stakeholders and project teams.
• Strong knowledge of agile, waterfall and hybrid methodologies.
• Project budget, financial, vendor and contract management experience.
• Strategic thinker who can solve problems, negotiate and deliver outcomes.
• Strong communicator who can turn technical challenges into business solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams through full lifecycle, from ideation and mobilisation to deployment and maintenance.
• Develop and manage scope, budget, resources, risks and timelines aligned to the business case.
• Ensure governance and delivery standards are met, with clear reporting of risks, issues and dependencies.
• Keep sponsors, governance groups and executives engaged, informed and supported to make timely decisions.
• Lead Discovery phases, procurement, RFPs and commercial discussions for vendors supporting delivery.
• Work with leaders, employees and vendors to define project requirements and expectations.
• Identify complex risks and lead mitigation planning.
• Manage multiple projects at once.
• Collaborate across project teams, squads and stakeholders to improve outcomes, remove barriers and manage cross-dependencies.
• Maintain strong knowledge of business strategy, goals and technology roadmaps.

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

• 7+ years’ IT project management experience delivering medium-to-large, complex projects
• Insurance or financial services experience is essential
• Data migration project experience is essential
• Experience leading teams, stakeholders and project teams
• Strong knowledge of agile, waterfall and hybrid project methodologies
• Project budget, financial, vendor and contract management experience
