Rob Law Max Recruitment in Auckland seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead major civil projects valued at $15M+ and to work closely with the Regional Manager to drive Auckland operations. This role offers a pathway into senior operational leadership and significant client and stakeholder exposure.

You will manage the delivery, financials, and risk across projects, while developing project teams and pursuing new business opportunities within Auckland's civil infrastructure sector.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering $15M+ civil construction projects.
• Senior PM or experienced Project Manager.
• Water infrastructure experience is highly desirable.
• Strong commercial and financial management skills.
• Proven leadership and people development capability.
• Excellent client and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong understanding of programme, cost, risk, quality, and H&S.
• Hands-on approach to project delivery.

Responsibilities

Are you an experienced Senior Project Manager ready to move beyond project delivery and take on a broader leadership role?

Our client is a well-established New Zealand-owned civil construction business delivering major infrastructure projects across water, transport, civil structures, and energy.

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager / 2IC to join the Auckland operation and work closely with the Regional Manager and senior leadership team.

This is more than another Senior PM position, it offers a genuine pathway into senior operational leadership.

The Role

You will lead the successful delivery of major civil construction projects and contracts valued at $15M+, while contributing to the overall performance and growth of the Auckland operation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead major civil construction projects from planning through to completion
• Manage programme, commercial, financial, quality, and H&S performance
• Lead and develop Project Managers, Engineers, and wider project teams
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders
• Identify commercial opportunities and manage project risks
• Support resource planning and regional operational performance
• Contribute to tendering, pre-construction, and business development
• Work alongside the Regional Manager on business planning and growth

About You

We're looking for a proven contractor-side Project Manager or Senior Project Manager who is ready to take on greater responsibility.

Ideally, you will have:

• Proven experience delivering $15M+ civil construction projects or contracts
• Senior Project Manager or experienced Project Manager experience
• Water infrastructure experience, highly desirable
• Strong commercial and financial management skills
• Proven leadership and people development capability
• Excellent client and stakeholder management skills
• Strong understanding of programme, cost, risk, quality, and H&S
• A practical, hands-on approach to project delivery
• Ambition to progress into senior operational leadership
