Job summary

Datacom Auckland is seeking a Project Billing Specialist to support billing operations with strong analysis, reporting, and commercial insight. This senior role manages complex projects, budgeting, and revenue recognition while mentoring the team.

Ideal candidates have CA/CPA qualifications or a relevant degree, 2+ years in accounting/finance, and experience with ERP/project accounting systems like NetSuite. Strong Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualification is highly desirable.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Two years' experience in an accounting/finance role, ideally in a project-based environment.
• Experience with ERP/project accounting systems (NetSuite, SuiteProjects Pro or similar).
• Strong analytical skills and ability to connect financial results to operations.
• High attention to detail and reliability in reporting.
• Confidently explain financial outcomes to non-finance stakeholders.
• Excellent Excel and systems capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Project administration and project billing.
• Manage project financials: budgets, billing rules, revenue recognition, WIP, deferred revenue.
• Review project setup in SuiteProjects Pro for accurate revenue/m margin reporting.
• Investigate data issues impacting reporting or outcomes.
• Support Team Manager and Team Leads with financial insight.
• Collaborate with Project, Process & Reporting Analyst, Revenue Team, Finance and stakeholders.
• Contribute to reporting/data quality improvements.
• Support ad hoc analysis and reporting requests as needed.
