Placements24 seeks an experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to lead process safety initiatives at a major industrial site in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will develop, implement, and manage PSM systems, conduct hazard analyses, and promote a strong safety culture across the plant.

The ideal candidate has a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, 7+ years in process safety in chemical/industrial environments, and hands-on experience with PHA, MOC, RCAs, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of process safety engineering in chemical/industrial environments.
• Experience with PSM elements: PHA, MOC, Incident Investigation.
• Familiarity with SA and international safety regulations (OHS Act, OSHA PSM).
• Proven ability to lead and facilitate HAZOP studies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Lead and facilitate PHAs, including HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA studies.
• Develop operating procedures, MOC protocols, and mechanical integrity programs.
• Conduct incident investigations and RCAs for process safety events.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards.
• Deliver process safety training to employees at all levels.
• Audit safety systems and procedures to identify improvements.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and engage with staff.
