Job summary

Tauranga City Council is seeking a Senior Process and Commissioning Engineer to lead safe, efficient water and wastewater project delivery. You will set the standard for commissioning new assets, keep process documentation up to date, and ensure changes are managed across the City Waters division.

The role collaborates with operations and technical teams, aims to improve performance, embed risk management, and support a growing city with innovative treatment solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (PhD not required).
• Chartered Professional Engineer status is a plus.
• Post-graduate qualification in commissioning is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership from feasibility to commissioning and handover.
• Troubleshoot process issues and trial new technologies.
• Drive continuous improvement of treatment processes and efficiency.
• Define KPIs and report performance with treatment managers.
• Maintain P&IDs, functional descriptions, and change control documentation.
