Job summary

Transpower New Zealand invites applications for a role in the Grid Development division, focused on Power System Dynamics. You will model and analyse power system behaviour, addressing stability, electromagnetic transients, and power quality to support future grid needs and asset investments.

The role involves collaborating with the Grid Upgrade Plans for HVDC and dynamic reactive plant projects, with opportunities across Wellington, Auckland, or Christchurch.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' experience in dynamic modelling of power systems.
• Experience with, or understanding of, FACTS/HVDC control systems engineering.
• Python scripting.
• Well-developed ability to communicate technical information verbally and in writing with a wide range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Tackle technically challenging modelling and analysis to shape grid planning.
• Deliver power system modelling and dynamic analysis to support NZ grid reliability as electrification grows.
• Support HVDC control system upgrades and dynamic reactive plant installations across projects up to $500m.
