Job summary

Transpower New Zealand Limited (TPNZ) is seeking an Experienced Engineer to advance power system dynamics, transient analysis, and HVDC control enhancements for a secure and low-emission electricity future. The role focuses on modelling, testing, and supporting dynamic reactive plant investments as the grid evolves.

You will work within the Grid Development team to model system behaviour, develop tools, and assist with HVDC upgrades while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' experience in dynamic modelling of power systems.
• Experience with FACTS/HVDC control systems engineering.
• Proficient in Python scripting.
• Strong written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Investigate power quality issues and build dynamic models over the next 18 months to support system planning.
• Support the HVDC Control System Upgrade and dynamic reactive plant installations.
• Contribute to Grid Upgrade Plans and project procurement, installation and commissioning.
