Job summary

Transpower New Zealand Limited is seeking an Experienced Engineer in Power System Dynamics to lead modelling and dynamic analysis for grid reliability and future power system needs.

You will investigate power quality issues, build dynamic models, and support HVDC control upgrades and dynamic reactive plant installations, ensuring secure operation as New Zealand electrifies the grid. Collaboration across teams and stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' experience in dynamic modelling of power systems.
• Experience with FACTS/HVDC control systems engineering.
• Python scripting and strong communication skills.
• Postgraduate study (Masters/PhD) advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Model and analyse power system dynamics to support stable operation of the grid.
• Investigate power quality issues and build/test dynamic models.
• Support HVDC Control System Upgrade and dynamic reactive plant installations.
• Collaborate with Transpower Grid Development and related teams across projects.
