Job summary

The Department of Conservation (DOC) is seeking a Senior Portfolio Performance Advisor to join the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office in Wellington. You will help senior leaders make evidence-based decisions about investments, projects and change initiatives, co-lead portfolio analysis, and support portfolio optimisation.

You will co-own the portfolio management system, advance governance reporting, and guide delivery teams in building portfolio, programme and project management capability

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in analytical, portfolio, programme, or project office roles.
• Strong understanding of project, programme, and portfolio management practices (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
• Experience in a PMO/Portfolio Office environment.

Responsibilities

• Co-lead enterprise portfolio reporting, analysis, and dashboard development for senior leaders and governance forums.
• Turn complex project, programme, financial, and performance data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
• Monitor portfolio performance, identify risks and trends, and recommend practical solutions.
• Analyse benefits realisation, investment performance, funding, and expenditure data to support strategic decision‑making.
• Support and troubleshooting of DOC’s PPM tool.
• Support Treasury investment reporting and organisational reporting requirements.
• Co-own and continuously improve DOC's portfolio management system, including its configuration, maintenance, and enhancement.
• Develop portfolio scenarios to assess priorities, funding options, capacity, sequencing, and trade‑offs.
• Provide advice on portfolio prioritisation, optimisation, and alignment with organisational outcomes.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of project and programme management frameworks, tools, templates, and guidance.
• Coach and support delivery teams to build portfolio, programme, and project management capability.
