Job summary

Air New Zealand is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer in TechOps to own and evolve the Connected Aircraft platforms and related ground systems. You will work across Windows, AWS and hybrid infra, applying IaC and security best practices to improve reliability and security for critical onboard and ground services.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, automation scripting, and collaboration with Engineering, Digital and vendor partners to deliver resilient, scalable platforms for 24/7

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experience.
• Cloud, networking or security certifications are advantageous (e.g., Cisco or equivalent).
• Solution Architecture or broader technical design experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and support secure, reliable Windows platforms, AWS and hybrid infrastructure for Connected Aircraft applications and ground systems, using IaC and secure practices.
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for Ground Support Equipment and aircraft maintenance laptops.
• Build and improve CI/CD, source control, automated testing and deployment practices for infrastructure, config and apps.
• Engineer and maintain security and identity infrastructure including PKI, TLS, access controls.
• Develop automation in PowerShell, Python or Shell to improve reliability and reduce manual work.
• Own monitoring, incident response and production readiness in a 24/7 environment, with on-call participation.
• Lead testing, validation and deployment of aircraft application changes across teams.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to strengthen resilience and automation.
