Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Scientist to join a dynamic pharmacology team in Queenstown. You will design and conduct in vitro and in vivo studies, identify targets, and contribute to preclinical and clinical development strategies in a hybrid work model.

The ideal candidate has a PhD, 5+ years in drug discovery, strong data analysis, and excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across chemists, biologists, and clinical scientists.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Toxicology, or related life science.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in drug discovery and development.
• Proven expertise in designing and conducting in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies.
• Strong understanding of drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and toxicology principles.
• Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills, with proficiency in relevant software.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in a team-oriented environment in Queenstown.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute complex pharmacological studies, including in vitro assays and in vivo models, to assess drug candidate efficacy and mechanisms of action.
• Characterize drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic (DMPK) properties, and assess potential toxicity.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, prepare detailed reports, and present findings to research teams and leadership.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists, biologists, and other scientists to advance drug discovery programs.
• Contribute to the development of new assays and experimental methodologies to enhance research capabilities.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements and literature in pharmacology and related fields.
