Qualifications

About the Role

A globally recognized pharmaceutical company is seeking an accomplished and scientifically driven Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join their esteemed team. This remote role, covering the Eastern Cape region with primary responsibility for the Queenstown area, focuses on building and maintaining relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals. The MSL will serve as a crucial scientific expert, providing in-depth medical and scientific information on the company's therapeutic areas and products. This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned medical affairs professional to make a significant impact through scientific exchange and support of evidence-based medicine. You will be the scientific face of our organization in your territory.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and nurture strong relationships with KOLs, researchers, and healthcare providers within the assigned territory.
• Deliver accurate, balanced, and scientifically rigorous information regarding therapeutic areas and company products.
• Respond to unsolicited medical inquiries from healthcare professionals.
• Gather insights from KOLs regarding clinical practice, unmet medical needs, and research trends.
• Support company-sponsored research initiatives and investigator-initiated studies (IIS).
• Educate internal stakeholders on scientific advancements and market insights.
• Present scientific data at medical congresses and local/regional medical events.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry codes of conduct, policies, and regulations.
• Contribute to the development of therapeutic area strategies and medical affairs plans.
• Identify potential speakers and support speaker programs.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent scientific degree) in a relevant life science discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison or in a comparable medical affairs role within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong understanding of the assigned therapeutic area(s) and relevant scientific literature.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain credible relationships with KOLs.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret complex scientific and clinical data.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance guidelines pertaining to pharmaceutical promotion and medical affairs.
• Ability to work independently and manage a remote territory effectively.
• Must reside within or be willing to relocate to the general area of Queenstown, Eastern Cape , or surrounding regions for effective territory coverage.
