Job summary

Odyssey is establishing a new peer-led service within a community café in central Hamilton. We are recruiting a full-time Senior Peer Specialist to work 40 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday, 7:30am–4pm, helping create a friendly and safe space for people with mental health or addiction challenges to drop in, connect, and access support or referrals.

The ideal candidate has lived experience, 2+ years in peer roles, a relevant L4 qualification, and knowledge of Māori tikanga and Pacific

Qualifications

• Must have lived experience with recovery from mental health or addictions.
• 2+ years’ relevant work experience in peer roles.
• A relevant (L4) qualification and peer training such as peer specialist or intentional peer support.
• Experience in social services, addictions and/or mental health sectors.

Responsibilities

• Help create a friendly, safe space in a community café for people to drop in and receive support or referrals.
• Work rostered café shifts serving customers under supervision of Café Manager.
• Contribute to a supportive team environment and promote recovery-oriented practice.
