Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a senior payroll specialist to own the payroll function within a small team, using Datapay in an outsourced model.

Reporting to the Financial Services Manager, you will oversee end-to-end weekly and monthly pay runs, act as the payroll SME for Datacom, ensure compliance with NZ legislation, and design standard and ad-hoc reports using Report Builder.

Qualifications

• Experience with Datacom/Datapay in outsourced payroll.
• Strong knowledge of NZ Holidays Act and payroll changes.
• Experience with Report Builder is a plus (training provided).
• High discipline, attention to detail and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Oversee timely weekly and monthly pay runs using Datapay.
• Perform initial variance analysis and commentary before approvals.
• Act as internal payroll SME for legislation queries across the business.
• Design and run standard and ad-hoc headcount and payroll reports (Report Builder).
• Partner with Datacom consultant to streamline payroll processes.

• Act as the internal go-to expert for payroll and legislation queries across the wider business.

• Proven experience using Datacom / Datapay within an outsourced payroll model.
• Strong working knowledge of NZ payroll legislation, specifically the Holidays Act and any upcoming legislation changes.
• Experience using Datapay’s Report Builder is a plus (training provided).
• High process discipline, attention to detail, and strong personal accountability.
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical payroll concepts clearly to non-payroll stakeholders.
