Job summary

OceanaGold’s Macraes Open Pit Workshop seeks a Specialist focused on engineering projects. You will own and optimise repairs, liaise with contractors, and plan repair processes for mobile equipment. The role follows a 9‑day fortnight roster: 5 on, 2 off, then 4 on, 3 off, with 7:00am–4:30pm shifts.

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will manage wear packages, generate work scopes and ensure high safety and quality standards across the workshop and site facilities.

Qualifications

• Require National Certificate in Engineering—Fabrication (Level 4) or similar.
• Minimum 5 years in open pit mining environments.
• Certs in first aid, forklift, crane, rigging and height are advantageous.
• Full, clean NZ driver licence; manual vehicle on rough terrain.
• Unrestricted NZ Working Visa required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise engineering personnel to maintain safety and quality.
• Develop wear package designs and complete work scopes for repairs and refurbishments.
• Audit inspections and monitor wear packaging and GET selection.
• Record usage on work orders and coordinate materials/repairs.
• Carry out welding and light fabrication on mining equipment as required.
• Plan and supervise projects with Boilermakers and contractors.
