OceanaGold’s Macraes Open Pit Workshop seeks a Specialist focused on engineering projects. You will own and optimise repairs, liaise with contractors, and plan repair processes for mobile equipment. The role follows a 9‑day fortnight roster: 5 on, 2 off, then 4 on, 3 off, with 7:00am–4:30pm shifts.
Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will manage wear packages, generate work scopes and ensure high safety and quality standards across the workshop and site facilities.

Our Macraes Open Pit Workshop is looking for aSpecialist focused on engineering projects. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, this role will work toown and optimise all engineering related repairs and projects in the Open Pit Workshop and liaise with contractors, to plan and scope repair processes on the mobileequipment.
9‑day fortnight roster—5days on, 2days off, 4days on, 3days off, 7:00am—4:30pm.
Supervises Engineering personnel in performance of their duties and to maintain ahigh standard of safety and workquality.
Documenting and maintaining optimum wear package designs to all wear &special items withinSharepoint.
Providing high quality complete work scopes for all repairs and refurbishments to wear and specialitems.
Auditing and quality control of routine inspections, monitor and record the condition of ground engaging tooling (G.E.T) and wear package materials providing feedback and recommendations into GET selection and wear packagematerials.
Maintain high levels of housekeeping in engineering workshop and all other facilities, equipment and company vehicles to ahigh standard.
Identify, materials and other resources required to complete allocated tasks following work management process in order to generate actionableworkorders.
Record and report usage of all components, parts and other resources on work-order jobcards.
Carry out general welding repairs and light fabrication work on mining machinery and other plant and equipment asrequired.
Monitor and record wear rates of wear package materials on buckets, blades and bodies/Trays to forecast repair or replacement options.
Complete engineer’s reports and maintenance checks on mining equipment during PM maintenance and report scope of works to planning department for execution ofwork.
Attend weekly planning meetings and provide relative information and resources for theplanner.
Assess, plan and supervise engineering projects to be completed by OGL Boilermakers and contractors.
Ensure planned maintenance and inspections of the site facilities, tooling and other workshop equipment is completed and any non-conformances actioned.
Follow and Align with the AMF AM10 work flowmanagement.
National Certificate in Engineering—Fabrication (Level 4) orsimilar.
At least 5years working in an open pit mining environment.
Advantageous but not essential are certificates in: first aid; forklift operations; overhead crane; rigging and slinging and work at height to relevant NZstandards.
Full, clean and current driver licence, confidence driving a manual vehicle over rough terrain isessential.
This role requires the successful applicant to holdan unrestricted New Zealand WorkingVisa.
Experienced across the repairand maintenance of heavy mining machinery in open pit environments including; large excavator bucket rebuilds, dump truck tray wear package replacements, refurbishment of blades and ground engagingtools.
Experienced in the coaching of other personnel / contractors undertaking engineering typework.
General fabrication and design with ahigh level of computer literacyrequired.
Familiar with the use of CMMS (computer maintenance management systems) for task / work-order generation and requisitioning of materials andresources.
Based at Macraes mine, EastOtago.
