About the Role

Our client, a major player in the logistics and supply chain industry, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Security Engineer to join their team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape . This hybrid role requires a dedicated professional who can contribute to securing our extensive network infrastructure, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our critical systems. You will be involved in designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced security solutions, as well as responding to security incidents. The hybrid model allows for essential on-site collaboration at our Queenstown offices while providing flexibility for focused remote work. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and a proven track record in managing complex security environments. You will play a vital role in protecting our operations against sophisticated cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage network security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and web application firewalls (WAFs).
• Monitor network traffic for security threats and anomalies, and respond to security incidents.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify and mitigate risks.
• Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures.
• Configure and maintain security devices and systems.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure network security is integrated into all infrastructure projects.
• Stay current with emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior security staff.
• Develop and maintain network security documentation and diagrams.
• Participate in security audits and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in network security engineering.
• Proven experience with enterprise-level firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet).
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and network segmentation.
• Experience with intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
• Knowledge of VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN).
• Familiarity with SIEM tools and log analysis.
• Experience with cloud security concepts is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and documentation abilities.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CCNA Security, CCNP Security, CISSP) are highly desirable.
