Job summary

Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) in Wellington seeks a Senior Ministerial Services Advisor for a fixed-term 14-month role. You will draft ministerial responses, advise on parliamentary questions, and collaborate with TWSD and MBIE teams to ensure high-quality service delivery.

You will coach colleagues and support ongoing professional development while maintaining strong stakeholder relations and adherence to quality standards.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year leading and writing responses to OIAs, Privacy Act requests and Ombudsman responses.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, rules and regulations.
• Political acumen and understanding of Parliamentary and government structures and processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with high accuracy.
• Ability to form robust professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to produce high quality work with initiative and discretion.
• Ability to work under pressure within tight timeframes.
• Knowledge of ISO9001:2015 quality management system.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice and draft replies to ministerial products including IOAs, MOIAs, Ministerial Correspondence, Privacy Requests, Ombudsman requests and Written Parliamentary Questions.
• Collaborate with TWSD and MBIE branches to source information and ensure consistent service delivery.
• Provide coaching/mentoring and technical advice to other Ministerial Services team members.
• Support development through on-the-job learning, training courses, conferences and seminars, development programmes and study opportunities.
