Beca Wellington Building Services is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC design from concept to construction on data centres, healthcare, defence, education and commercial projects across NZ and beyond.

You’ll lead mechanical design from concept through to construction, delivering high-quality outcomes while working closely with clients and project teams to solve complex challenges and identify opportunities to add value.
As part of a nationally connected Building Services team, you’ll contribute to projects across New Zealand, Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region, giving you exposure to a diverse range of sectors and technical challenges. You’ll work alongside industry-leading specialists while continuing to expand your technical expertise, professional influence and leadership capability.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll provide technical leadership across projects, mentor developing engineers, contribute to winning work, and help shape the continued success of our Wellington Building Services team.
You’re an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in HVAC design and delivery, ideally gained within a consulting environment. You hold a relevant tertiary qualification and have successfully delivered building services projects from concept through to completion.
You’re confident leading design delivery, coordinating project teams and building trusted client relationships. You enjoy taking ownership of your work while mentoring developing engineers and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
You are familiar with load estimation tools such as IES, Carrier HAP or similar, along with design and coordination platforms such as Revit and Bluebeam. You have a strong understanding of recognised industry guidance including CIBSE and ASHRAE, together with experience applying New Zealand building codes and standards.
You’re either Chartered, or working towards chartership, and are looking for an opportunity to further develop your technical leadership, client engagement and project delivery capabilities.
