Job summary

Westpac New Zealand Limited in Wellington seeks a Manager of Payment Standards & Industry to oversee payment rails, standards, governance, and obligations. You will coordinate day-to-day industry engagement, governance reporting and issue resolution across payment services, ensuring obligations remain current and well understood.

The role also covers monitoring regulatory changes, leading risk and compliance, and representing the bank in industry bodies while driving process improvements with

Qualifications

• Experience in domestic payments, transaction banking or related industry.
• Understanding of payment methods, clearing and settlement arrangements.
• Knowledge of payment-system rules, participation obligations, risk and regulatory requirements.
• Experience engaging with regulators, industry bodies and external stakeholders.
• Strategic thinking with ability to translate industry developments into business actions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including executive papers and briefing materials.

Responsibilities

• Support the management of payment rails, standards, obligations and operating frameworks.
• Coordinate day-to-day industry governance, reporting and issue resolution across payment services.
• Monitor industry, regulatory and standards changes and coordinate impact assessments.
• Coordinate participation in industry bodies and working groups on day-to-day matters.
• Provide cross-domain expertise and operational support across all payment types.
