Job summary

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is recruiting a Poutuia Matua - Senior Learning Designer to join the Student Transition team on a permanent, full-time contract. The role delivers specialist learning design to enhance learner engagement, retention, progression and success across the University.

You will lead design and evaluation of programmes, resources, and digital environments, collaborating with staff to drive evidence-informed decision making and student outcomes.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience as Learning Designer or equivalent in tertiary education.
• Proven experience leading development of digital online learning.
• Experience in designing learner-centred programmes and resources.
• Postgraduate qualification or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and improvement of learner-centred programmes, resources, and support initiatives.
• Provide expert guidance on learning design, educational practice, and student success strategies.
• Design and enhance digital learning environments, ensuring accessible and engaging experiences.
• Use learner insights, analytics and feedback to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with academic and professional staff, providing leadership and mentoring.
