Job summary

Tait Communications seeks a Lead Design Engineer - Devices to own device software and hardware platforms from architecture to lifecycle. You will lead cross-disciplinary teams, oversee outsourced development, and ensure designs meet quality, security, and production requirements.

You will drive end-to-end device platform delivery, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product management to align technology with strategy and manufacturing constraints.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing and leading complex hardware and embedded software systems.
• Experience with device lifecycle management and manufacturing readiness.
• Experience with ODMs/contract manufacturers and external development partners.
• Awareness of security best practices and regulatory considerations.

Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end technical ownership for device software and hardware platforms, ensuring architectural coherence and long-term maintainability.
• Lead the technical direction for device software and hardware integration across product ranges.
• Drive specification, development, and delivery of new device platforms aligned to strategy.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring across design, development, verification, and release activities.
• Oversee external development partners to ensure quality and architectural alignment.
