Job summary

Aqualab (NZ) Ltd – Waitakere, North Island is a small, flexible laboratory focused on testing water samples from drinking water, recreational and wastewater sources. The team performs field sampling, pH and turbidity tests, and microbiology analyses in a region around Greater Auckland.

The ideal candidate will have science-based qualifications, familiarity with ISO 17025, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while supporting quality systems and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Science-based degree and several years in the workforce preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO 17025 is a prerequisite for this role.
• Knowledge of New Zealand Drinking Water Standards desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform sampling across the Greater Auckland area and conduct field tests.
• Carry out laboratory testing including pH, turbidity and microbiology analyses.
• Support compliance with ISO 17025 quality systems and contribute to operations.

Aqualab (NZ) Ltd – Waitakere, North Island

Aqualab has been operating in West Auckland for over twentyyears. The company has as its focus the testing of water samples from a variety of sources such as drinking-water supplies, recreational water (both swimming pools and beaches) and wastewater systems for compliance with relevant standards. Our Laboratory is ISO 17025 accredited.

As a small independent Laboratory Aqualab prides itself on being flexible and responsive to client requirements.

Job tasks and responsibilities

Working for Aqualab entails a wide variety of work from sampling of a range of water types in the Greater Auckland area, field tests, laboratory testing such as pH and Turbidity and a variety of Microbiology tests.

The person we are looking for would have knowledge and skills in the above areas but also in operation and maintenance of Quality Systems that are based on ISO 17025.

We also do a significant number of tests on final effluent samples for resource consent purposes.

There is also some more advanced field work in relation to water mains and reservoirs that may also be undertaken.

In time the person in this role would be expected to develop skills that would help manage operations if other senior personnel are absent. This may also include becoming a KTP for Aqualab.

Skills and experience

A graduate with science based qualifications and several years in the workforce would be seen as ideal for this role. Familiarity with ISO 17025 is a prerequisite and knowledge of the New Zealand Drinking Water Standard would also be desirable. A person in this role would be expected to be able to work with a minimum of supervision whilst carrying out routine sampling and testing required by Aqualab. A full (and current) NZ driver's license is mandatory.
