Job summary

Port of Tauranga seeks a Senior IT Systems Engineer to lead design, delivery and ongoing support of enterprise infrastructure and cloud environments. Based in Tauranga, you will own complex infrastructure and cloud solutions, working with stakeholders and partners to ensure reliability, security and fit-for-purpose systems.

You’ll focus on Datacentres, Microsoft Azure, enterprise networking, and Microsoft 365, helping shape the technology landscape and supporting critical port operations.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Extensive experience (typically 7+ years) in senior infrastructure or systems engineering roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Proven expertise in enterprise networking and hybrid cloud environments.
• Experience designing and implementing infrastructure solutions end-to-end.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
• Experience mentoring others and sharing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design and delivery of Datacentre, infrastructure and cloud projects.
• Providing expert-level support across Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Intune.
• Designing and maintaining enterprise Datacentre network infrastructure.
• Driving service excellence and continuous improvement across Digital Services.
• Managing operational documentation, standards and disaster recovery plans.
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues end-to-end.
• Monitoring and maintaining the health of systems, cloud services and networks.
