Job summary

Convergence Partners in Hamilton, New Zealand, is seeking a senior network engineer to lead the design and operation of our Azure, AWS and on‑prem infrastructure. You will troubleshoot complex issues, mentor engineers, and participate in early design discussions to align technical outcomes with business goals.

The role emphasizes translating technical risk for stakeholders and shaping resilient network solutions within a growing product and corporate environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in network engineering or related roles in corporate, MSP, or large infra environments.
• Strong hands-on Azure and AWS experience with VPCs, EC2, S3, ELB, VPN, and routing.
• Solid fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, BGP, OSPF and security concepts.
• Windows Server/Active Directory familiarity; IaC, automation and version control (Git, DevOps).
• Certifications (Azure/AWS) and ITIL knowledge seen as plus, not a gatekeeper.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and troubleshoot network architecture across Azure, AWS and on‑prem.
• Lead triage and resolution of incidents; scope work packages and projects.
• Coach and mentor engineers; provide feedback to help the team grow.
• Shape designs early in projects and influence stakeholders to align with business needs.
• Translate technical risk into business language and push back when needed.
