Job summary

Omexom New Zealand is seeking a Senior HSEQ Adviser to provide health, safety and environmental leadership across the Wellington Electricity Contract. You will work with site teams to embed safe work practices and drive performance.

The role focuses on coaching HSE Advisers, conducting audits, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with legislation and customer requirements, while promoting a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications

• Must have HSEQ qualification such as National Certificate or Diploma.
• Strong knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
• Experience in a senior HSEQ advisory or leadership role in utilities, infrastructure, construction or related sectors.
• Knowledge of risk management, HSEQ systems and compliance.
• Experience leading investigations, audits and continuous improvement.
• Leads with strong leadership and coaching to influence at all levels.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to prioritise in a dynamic operational environment.
• Engineering or infrastructure qualifications are advantageous.
• Formal audit/investigation training is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day HSEQ leadership and guidance across the Wellington Electricity Contract.
• Lead, coach and support HSE Advisers and manage priorities.
• Partner with operational leaders to identify, assess and manage HSEQ risks and ensure compliance.
• Lead and support incident investigations, corrective actions, lessons learned and worker rehabilitation processes.
• Coordinate and undertake HSEQ audits and field assessments, monitoring actions and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Analyse HSEQ trends and performance to identify opportunities for improvement and support initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with operational teams and stakeholders to promote consultation and outcomes.
• Champion a proactive safety culture and high standards of health, safety and environmental performance.
