Job summary

Higgins in Auckland is seeking a Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join the East Tamaki workshop team. You will service heavy vehicles, civil construction plant and equipment, diagnose faults, and perform repairs with a focus on safety and reliability.

The role offers a permanent 40-hour week, on-call roster, and opportunities to upskill and gain further licenses, with employee benefits including KiwiSaver contributions and staff discounts.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification and relevant licences required.
• Experience with heavy vehicles, civil construction plant and mobile equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Commitment to safe work practices and team safety.
• Willingness to overtime and rostered callouts.

Responsibilities

• Service and maintain heavy vehicles, civil construction plant and equipment.
• Diagnose faults and complete mechanical repairs, including minor electrical work.
• Carry out COF checks, servicing, lubrication, welding and fitting.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
• Keep maintenance records and follow servicing programmes.
• Help keep the workshop organised and safe.
