Job summary

WM New Zealand is seeking a qualified Diesel Mechanic for our East Tamaki workshop. You will join a skilled team and work in a modern facility, handling scheduled maintenance and repairs for fleet vehicles.

The role requires a Level 4 Heavy Diesel Trade NZQA certificate (or equivalent), 1+ year experience in diagnostics and preventive maintenance, CMMS familiarity, and a Class 4 Driver’s Licence is advantageous. 45 hours/week with some Saturdays and an on-call allowance.

Qualifications

NZQA Level 4 Heavy Diesel Trade certificate or equivalent recognised by NZQA as Level 4.
1+ year proven experience in preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs of fleet trucks.
Preference for >1 year experience in hydraulic systems diagnostics and maintenance and/or automotive electrical/electronic fault diagnosis.
Experience with CMMS is an advantage but not essential.
A Class 4 Driver’s Licence is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

Maintain vehicle records by accurately completing all job sheets for inspections, servicing and repairs.
Service and maintain vehicles and equipment in line with policy and vendor programmes.
Carry out vehicle and body/unit servicing per the Preventative Maintenance Programme.
Promote and maintain safe working practices at all times.
Manage job processing through the CMMS.
Requisition repair parts and consumables as needed.
Perform daily checks of workshop tools and equipment to ensure serviceability.
