Job summary

Jensen Hughes in Auckland is seeking an experienced Fire Engineer to join our growing New Zealand team on a full-time, on-site basis. You will lead fire safety projects, develop practical NZBC-compliant solutions and work directly with clients to understand challenges.

You'll mentor developing engineers, engage with a global team, and help grow Jensen Hughes' presence in New Zealand while advancing safety and risk projects locally.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues to clients and project stakeholders.
• Ability to build and maintain client relationships across projects.
• Willingness to mentor developing engineers and collaborate with a global team.
• Ownership of projects while working as part of a wider Jensen Hughes team.
• Strong knowledge of NZ Building Code and fire safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide key technical input and leadership on fire safety engineering projects from inception through to completion.
• Develop and assess fire engineering solutions that meet NZ Building Code requirements and Standards.
• Work directly with clients and project teams to understand challenges and develop practical solutions.
• Think creatively and challenge conventional approaches to achieve the best client outcomes.
• Participate in site inspections, construction inspections and final inspections.
• Prepare and review technical reports, assessments and other project documentation.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, building professionals and contractors.
• Identify opportunities to improve client outcomes while maintaining safety and quality.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry contacts.
• Represent Jensen Hughes at industry events and client meetings.
