Job summary

AIA New Zealand is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to deliver trusted, accurate, and forward‑looking financial reporting that informs strategic decision‑making. You’ll partner with the Manager, Financial Reporting and stakeholders across Finance and the wider business, providing leadership and assurance in a dynamic environment.

You’ll drive month‑end close, deliver analysis and insights, own statutory and group reporting, and lead automation initiatives to improve efficiency and quality.

Qualifications

  • experience delivering external financial reporting, audit coordination, and financial analysis within a complex finance environment.

  • Lead the month-end close process, delivering accurate financial results, reconciliations, and reporting outcomes on time.

  • Own statutory, regulatory, and group reporting requirements, ensuring high-quality submissions that meet internal and external obligations.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives, leveraging automation and AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency, scalability, and reporting quality.
  • Strengthen financial reporting controls by designing and continuously improving frameworks that support compliance, assurance, and risk management.
  • Build trusted relationships across Finance, the wider business, auditors, regulators, and AIA Group stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.

Your Role with Us

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you play a pivotal role in delivering trusted, accurate, and forward‑looking financial reporting that supports AIA New Zealand’s strategic decision‑making. Partnering closely with the Manager, Financial Reporting and stakeholders across Finance, the wider business, and AIA Group, you provide technical leadership, insight, and assurance in a dynamic environment. This role offers the opportunity to combine deep accounting expertise with innovation, helping shape how reporting processes evolve through automation and AI‑enabled solutions. You will influence key outcomes, strengthen controls, and contribute to continuous improvement while supporting AIA’s purpose of helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.

Your Capabilities

You have strong technical accounting expertise and the ability to interpret complex accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and reporting obligations. You bring experience delivering external financial reporting, audit coordination, and financial analysis within a complex finance environment. You have a proven ability to identify improvement opportunities and redesign processes that increase efficiency, quality, and future scalability. You bring strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills, using data and multiple sources of information to generate practical insights and solutions. You have the confidence to build credibility with a wide range of stakeholders, influencing outcomes through clear communication and collaboration. You may also have experience with financial services reporting and modern finance technologies such as SAP, BlackLine, Power BI, Power Query, or AI‑enabled finance tools.
