Job summary

Hawkins in Wellington seeks an experienced Estimator to deliver cost estimates for new commercial construction projects and support tendering efforts. You will liaise with clients and subcontractors, negotiate rates, and contribute to business development within a fast-growing region.

The role requires a minimum of 10 years in estimation, knowledge of NZ construction practices, and the ability to read drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years experience as an Estimator on commercial construction projects.
• Knowledge of the New Zealand construction market and team environment.
• Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying or an Engineering related discipline.
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications; cost planning experience.
• Experience analysing subcontractor quotes and negotiating rates.
• Awareness of price trends; data confidentiality; NZ contract law advantageous.
• Excellent computer skills; CostX experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cost estimates for the acquisition of new construction projects.
• Develop relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to support tender process.
• Support business development and negotiate preferred rates within tenders.
• Engage with project stakeholders to ensure timely tender submissions.
