Job summary

Hawkins is New Zealand's leading commercial construction company, delivering iconic projects nationwide. We seek a Senior Quantity Surveyor for the Manawatu region to oversee financial management, budgets, and cost reporting on mid to large commercial builds.

You will work with clients, consultants and senior management to ensure commercial success. Ideal candidate has 7+ years in commercial construction, a Quantity Surveying qualification, and strong Excel and Jobpac experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years experience on mid to large commercial construction projects.
• Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying or similar qualification.
• Strong teamwork and people skills; ability to work with clients, consultants and senior management.
• Excellent NZ contract law knowledge; awareness of local practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage the financials of projects including budgets, cost to complete, and financial reporting.
• Set and monitor project budgets and variances, and review progress claims and variations.
• Produce financial reports and support systems to track project performance.
• Review programming and cost control, ensuring timely, accurate cost information.
• Collaborate with project teams to drive commercial outcomes.

About The Role

We have an opportunity in the Manawatu for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join us.

You will be responsible for the financial management of projects, setting and monitoring budgets, reviewing cost to complete, programming review, progress claims and variations, and financial reporting and systems.

You will be a key member of our team and get to work with some of New Zealand's most knowledgeable construction professionals.

To Be Considered For This Role You Will Have

• A minimum of 7 years' experience working on mid to large commercial construction projects
• A Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying or similar relevant qualification
• Great teamwork and people skills. You'll be comfortable working with a wide range of people including clients, consultants and senior management.
• Excellent NZ contract law knowledge.
• Excellent financial literacy and exposure to Jobpac or a similar financial control package would be highly desirable.
• Advanced computer literacy; particularly in Excel.
