Job summary

Contact Energy Ltd is seeking a Senior Advisor – Environment & Land to lead environmental stewardship for a major renewable energy project in Southland. You will own environmental activities from planning through construction readiness and delivery, coordinating with project leaders, contractors, iwi, councils, and regulators to embed strong environmental outcomes.

We’re looking for an experienced environmental practitioner who can balance technical depth with practical delivery, and build

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental management across infrastructure, construction, renewables, or similar complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of environmental compliance, ecological management, approvals and risk.
• Experience engaging with councils, regulators, consultants, contractors, landowners, iwi and communities.
• Ability to navigate complexity and balance competing priorities with sound judgement.
• Exceptional relationship-building, communication and influencing capabilities.
• Experience managing consultants, technical specialists, contractors or delivery partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental management plans, approvals and compliance across project readiness.
• Coordinate with project managers, site teams, consultants and regulators.
• Influence environmental management approaches and stakeholder engagement across the project.
• Navigate environmental, land and stakeholder considerations across workstreams.
• Provide environmental leadership through planning, enabling works and delivery phases.
• Share lessons learned to improve broader renewable energy developments.
• Spend significant time on site, supporting delivery in live construction environments.
