Job summary

Contact Energy is seeking a Senior Advisor – Environment & Land for a 24‑month fixed term in Southland. The role sits within Sustainability and focuses on environmental leadership across a major renewable energy development, ensuring commitments, approvals, and stakeholder obligations are integrated into project delivery.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in environmental management across infrastructure, construction, or energy projects.
• Strong knowledge of environmental compliance, ecological management, and risk assessment.
• Proven ability to engage with councils, regulators, iwi, landowners, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental management plans, approvals, and compliance requirements.
• Coordinate with project managers, site teams, consultants, ecologists, contractors, and regulators to deliver on environmental commitments.
• Influence environmental management approaches and stakeholder engagement across multiple workstreams.
• Navigate complex environmental, land, and stakeholder considerations to balance priorities.
• Provide environmental leadership throughout planning, enabling works, construction readiness, and delivery.
• Apply lessons learned to other Contact renewable energy projects.
• Spend significant time on site alongside project teams during construction.
