Job summary

BNZ is seeking a Senior Engineer to join the Transactions & Investments Domain API team in a hybrid role based in Auckland or Wellington. You’ll design, build, test, deploy and operate high-quality Open Banking APIs and services, owning complex technical work with a focus on quality and reliability.

You’ll contribute to automated testing, be involved across the full engineering lifecycle and collaborate with engineers, analysts and product owners in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Strong Java development experience with Spring Boot in API-centric projects.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency with containerised deployments and cloud tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design and build quality API solutions that are scalable and maintainable.
• Engineer for quality with automated testing and testability in mind.
• Own quality and risk, identify root causes and preventive solutions.
• Develop and maintain automated tests and automation frameworks.
• Investigate and solve complex production issues and assist on-call.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts and product owners.
